What’s included

Gorilla permit booking process (Bwindi)

Mountain gorilla permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). As of 2026, foreign travellers must book through a licensed Ugandan tour operator — direct individual bookings with UWA are no longer accepted.

Current approximate rates (foreign non-resident):

How it works when you book with us:

  1. You choose preferred dates and tell us your flexibility (peak months fill months in advance).
  2. We check availability across Bwindi’s sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo).
  3. Once you confirm, full payment is required immediately to secure the permit (the previous 7-day hold system was discontinued in 2026).
  4. We process the booking through authorised channels and send you confirmation.
  5. On the trek day you present the permit and passport at the park briefing point.

Processing time: Once payment is received, the permit is normally confirmed within 1–3 working days (sometimes same day in low season). Peak dates (June–September and December–February) can sell out months ahead, so we recommend starting the process 3–6 months before travel. Last-minute requests are possible only if slots remain.

Only a limited number of permits are issued per day (typically 8 visitors per gorilla family).

Notes

Gorilla permits are limited and should be booked early. We handle the coordination so you can focus on the experience.

Bwindi nature & hiking trails

Beyond the gorilla trek itself, Bwindi has a network of guided nature walks (Munyaga Waterfall Trail, Mubwindi Swamp, Rushura Hill, Bamboo Trail, and longer cross-park routes). These can be added as half-day or full-day activities and do not require a gorilla permit.

Entry to Kenya: Most non-African visitors need a Kenya eTA (apply at etakenya.go.ke). We can supply accommodation confirmation for your application. See our Contact page for full details.
